Halfway Hurdle: And the passion I found as I climbed over it

Last week I hit the halfway point of my internship in Laos, and with it I definitely ran into a bit of a hurdle. Between the language barrier, the time change to home, and reaching a stopping point in both of my projects at work, I felt a bit lost and out of place. Oh, and the rainy season really made its presence known last week too. I definitely felt like I was in a slump, but it is amazing what can come from being a little stuck.

Week 1 – Back in the Motherland

Week 6: A shorter post during break

This week research continues besides enjoying the short break. I received a new set of mass spectrometric (MS) data, as is shown in the following figures. What is interested about these data is that they are collected online, rather than offline like the data I’ve analyzed in the past weeks. With “online”, we mean that the data is collected live on the field in real time. By contrast, offline data are obtained in laboratory with prepared samples collected in the field.
