Fifth Week

Fifth week

This week I have been trying to solve this artificial peak problem. It appears the peaks are all in the same place for each scan, but there are more than 1100 data points per scan. The professor who owns the spectrometer (whose name is John) is still abroad. He says that he cannot solve the issue over email, so we are forced to wait until he returns.

I have been working on finding a wavelength range that will not affect our analysis if excluded. If I can copy this treatment to all scans, then the bias of manually “fixing” the data will be eliminated. Again, this has been incredibly tedious and frustrating. There are 8 scans for each of the 75 feathers. Hopefully, John will have a magic answer when he returns from England.
