Soil Bacteriophage

Welcome to Viruses and Phage (I know,it’s redundant on purpose). This summer I will be researching soil phage and the length of their infectivity. Since there a few who use soil phage in their research, there is little information on these curious things. For one, how can they flourish in such a seemingly stagnant environment? In other words, how can they find their hosts if they are stuck in a setting which is not as fluid as water? Hopefully, I will be able to provide some insight into this question during the course of the summer of 2010.
