textures of Seoul; closing remarks

The past two weeks barreled into one as my trip forged to an end.

I think I may harbor some residual wanderlust as I’ve been especially restless since I’ve gotten back home, but at the same time incessantly tired and listless all hours of the day. I have yet to figure out which order the two appeared in, which is the cause and which the effect, if there even is such a relationship.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the modest ways in which our impression of a place can be immediately recast. Something so uninteresting as finding the all natural, health conscious grocery store that I did last week dented an impatient and ceaseless bustle that I had chosen to be a hallmark of Seoul.

I have a terrible habit of abandoning any pursuit that does not come naturally to me, and such has been the case with Korean. But, halfway through my stay here, I’ve resolved to give it a more earnest attempt as with all things, the threat of having something taken away makes it immediately more precious.

textures of Seoul; three weeks in retrospect

My first week in Seoul has just come to an end, though I began my trip to Asia roughly three weeks ago. These weeks have left me with a lot of sparse thoughts, which I feel will eventually become cohesive, trail together and make sense of each other in some way, but at this early stage lack the context to be.
